About us
Our Story
Vision ARRP emerged from a growing recognition that the health of people and ecosystems is inseparable.
Across Ethiopia, lake and river ecosystems are undergoing profound changes driven by both natural dynamics and intensifying human activities. Rapid urban expansion, settlement growth, land-use pressures, water diversion, deforestation, and inadequate waste management are increasingly degrading these ecosystems, placing biodiversity, livelihoods, lifestyle and community health at significant risk.
Founded in February 2026 by two public health professionals, Vision ARRP was established in response to these interconnected and escalating challenges. Drawing on decades of experience in public health, disease prevention, health promotion, environmental health, and the social determinants of health, Wassihun Melaku Belay and Amlak Alelign bring a shared commitment to advancing coordinated and sustained action. The organization works to mobilize and align diverse stakeholders in concerted efforts to address risks to health and wellbeing—linking ecosystem restoration and protection with the strengthening of resilient systems and empowered communities.
